My background
I'm Saltuk Buğra Karacan, the founder of ANT TECH AI - an engineer and technology developer working in AI, data engineering, machine learning and automation.
I hold an MSc in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich. My thesis measured how reliable Large Language Models really are in safety-critical engineering processes - in other words, when AI can be trusted and when it cannot.
Before founding ANT TECH AI I built experience across AI research, AI engineering and data engineering: applied LLM research on safety-critical systems at Fraunhofer IKS, ESG data pipelines and information retrieval at certum.ai, multilingual AI models at Retorio, machine-learning projects for Turkish Airlines and Škoda, and predictive modelling for Siemens.
Today I lead the technical work behind ANT TECH AI's solutions. That range is why the company adapts quickly to business problems in sectors it hasn't worked in before.
Off the clock
A few more things about me.
- IEEE publication: research on Turkish image captioning - releasing the largest Turkish multimodal dataset and benchmarking model performance.
- Won 2nd place at two ESG-focused AI hackathons (HackBoğaziçi 2022 and CFA Poland 2021).
- Moved from Istanbul to Munich for my MSc.
- I speak English and Turkish, and I'm actively learning German.
- Mentored 200+ participants in Python, data science, and machine learning during my time as an instructor.
- I love watching and playing football. I also try to make time for calisthenics.
